At myCornwall, we have a lot of admiration for local clubs and organisations in our county, along with the communities that help them thrive. So when the team heard that an ocean sports club based in Carbis Bay is taking part in a 24 hour canoe paddle to raise money to buy new equipment, we had to find out more!
Based on the stunning Blue Flag rated beach at Carbis Bay, Ocean Sports club works closely with the local community to encourage people of all skill and age to enjoy the ocean. Getting youngsters and adults on the sea, be it on outriggers or paddleboards, they encourage participants learn about ocean awareness and safety as well as enjoying it.
The two clubs involved in the fundraising event, Ocean Sports Club and St Ives Bay Stand Up Paddleboard Club, will be spending 24 hours at sea in a bid to raise money toward buying a new six-man Hawaiian canoe, paddles and materials for an equipment store so that they continue their work for the community.
The event is taking part this Saturday, 27th May at 3PM and will last the full 24
hours. You’ll be able to spot the team paddling around St Ives Bay!
This is a great example of a community spirit and it would be great to help the team towards their goal! To help them out, whether it’s £2 or £10, visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Hawaiian-canoe
