The company was later renamed Dixie Greyhound Lines after the Greyhound Corporation<\/a> acquired a controlling interest in 1931.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frederick’s father passed away when he was only four years old, and his mother and uncles raised him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consequently, he was raised by his mother and uncles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite facing a bone disease during his early years, Frederick regained his health by age 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith’s family includes 10 children; among them are photographer Windland Smith Rice, film producer Molly Smith, and Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of his sons, Richard W. Smith, holds a prominent position as a high-level executive at FedEx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, his youngest son, Frederick Buchanan “Cannon” Smith, tied the knot with Collins Tuohy, the daughter of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
