Porthilly Gallery is a new and exciting art gallery near Rock, Cornwall which is also the studio of Jethro Jackson. Jethro is a landscape painter and potter who was born and raised on the Cornish North Coast. This gives him an affinity and empathy with this most special of all coastlines and has allowed Jethro to capture the atmosphere of the local landscape in his original and sensitive works.
Part of the gallery is a studio where potential customers and visitors are given the rare opportunity to be able to observe Jethro at work. The rest of the building is gallery space where Jethro displays his works along with those of other leading contemporary artists, including Paul Jackson, Robin Leonard, Hamish Mackie, Chris Prindl, Eddie and Margaret Curtis, Edward Stein, Peter Beard, Bill Nott-Bouer and Rosie Jackson.
Porthilly Gallery has a strong ceramic bias as both Jethro and his father, Paul have exhibited at various ceramic events across the country and built up links and friendships with many other talented potters. They will be inviting several of these to exhibit their work at the gallery. Porthilly is set to become the home to fine ceramics on the North Cornish Coast.
