Our collection allows you to discover masterpieces by Thomas Gainsborough, Laura Knight, Alfred Munnings, John Singer Sargent, Henry Scott Tuke, Charles Napier Hemy and George Frederick Watts alongside pictures by contemporary artists such as Naomi Frears and Trevor Bell.
The Art Gallery’s most famous painting is The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse, which is known throughout the world.
We also have an impressive photography collection including work by Lee Miller, Ian Stern and Eve Arnold. It also houses The Surrealists in Cornwall Collection, the Automata Collection, The Children’s Illustration Archive and one of the most important print collections outside of London.

We have gained nationwide recognition for our innovative family and community workshops. We particularly welcome visits from special needs groups. Further to this we have weekly family workshops on a Saturday that take inspiration from the surrounding exhibitions.
