Situated in the World Heritage village of Charlestown in Cornwall, Atishoo Gallery celebrates ten years at this location in 2013. Atishoo is owned and run by artist couple Liz Hackney and Paul Clark along with their youngest member of staff, their little daughter Eileen.
Liz founded Atishoo in 1997 as a studio to sell her own artwork, which uses textured and dyed tissue paper to create her paintings. This gave the gallery it’s name; a play on the words “Art Tissue”
Paul Clark has exhibited his bright and quirky canvases of Cornish harbours for over twenty years, and has now launched a range of prints from his paintings.
Atishoo Gallery also exhibits arts and contemporary crafts by more than eighty other artists, all British based, filling two floors of the converted barn (which for thirty years was formally the village butchers shop) This includes paintings by David Wheeler, Alan Arthurs, Jane Winton and Kit Johns, pottery by Phillip Gardiner, Jane Marks and Angela Wallwork, textiles by Sophie Harding, Janet Croome and June Hayes, and jewellery by Koa, Sarah Drew and Gingerbread House.
Liz and Paul also have twenty five years experience of bespoke picture framing.
